"Lettuce" update....

on our garden!!

We were able to harvest our lettuce for the first time yesterday!! It's so exciting! It's just so amazing to me that a tiny seed can turn into delicious produce! We used some of our home grown lettuce for a taco salad dinner and it was grrrreat.
We're getting super excited to harvest the rest of the veggies soon! Sadly some veggies we planted did not make it (including the Basil) because of the stupid cats digging in it. oh well, we'll just plant some more and have our BB guns ready......better yet, maybe we'll get a dog! :)

P.S. Sad story..... Faith thought she'd be helpful and clean my camera by throwing it in the pool. It's broken. :( So, my pix will be coming from my camera from now on until I get another camera in the next century. *sigh*

Wooden Flag

After our fun family bike ride by Gardner Village on Memorial Day,
we browsed around the shops and found a cute wooden flag decor. One SIL said, it's so cute I want to get it! The other SIL said no way, we can totally make that! lol Anyone else do that? See a craft and tell yourself, I can make that!
More times than not I don't actually make it, but this time we planned a craft day and got 'er done. They all turned out super cute, I love all the different combinations of papers!

The measurements of wood we used were:

2 pieces at 12" wide for bottom stripes
2 pieces at 7" wide for top stripes
1 2x4 block at 5" wide for blue star block

Just cut some 2x4's in half and you have a good height for stripes. I like the glitter on the stars, gives it a nice little bling!

I can't believe Independence Day is next weekend, but I'm glad I get to enjoy the decor for the whole month and not just until then!

Super Dad!

I wanted to post up this idea sooner, but both my dad and hubby read my blog, and that would just be against my sneaky nature. :) But at least it's something to think about for next year....or even a birthday would be cute!

When I saw this SUPER cute idea, I knew I just had to try it out. I'm so glad I did! It was easy, fun and something different. I used snacks to suit it to our own super dads. Instead of a wooden box like she used, I got a smaller photo box for only $3 at Hobby Lobby!! It all fit in there (thanks to my tetris skills ;) so it all worked out.
This is my first time having a Izze drink. Anyone else tried these before? They're pretty good! Blackberry is my FAVY! mmm.. Great alternative to soda pop, in my opinion.

For a card, I thought I'd stay with the Super theme and made this super dad card. I love how it all turned out!
Our Super Dad!

Random note: Anytime I hear the word 'Super', it reminds me of that line from "Incredibles" where bad guy says "It's a family of Supa's.......and they got busy!" hahaha Anyone else reminded of that?? :)

Freebie Father's Day Digi Kit!!

** NO LONGER DOWNLOADABLE FOR FREE **

This one goes out to TWO of the most AMAZING men in my life. My Dad and Hubby!

I love and admire my dad SO much! I'm grateful for all he's taught me over the years (and continuing to). I'm grateful to him for being nothing but pure good to us, what a great example he was and still is to me, I will always look up to him.

I love and admire Tim also! He continues to amaze me with that mind of his. I don't think my brain will ever think the way his does. :) He.Is.Genious. I admire how much he does for me and the girls, never asking for anything in return and does it all willingly and without complaint. If that aint love, I don't know what is. He is seriously a one-of-a-kind guy and I'm so grateful, blessed and lucky that God gave him to ME! :)
I love that they get along so well!

This is my Kit, #1 Pop! I'm lovin' how it turned out and hope you have fun with it, and Happy Father's Day to all your # 1 Pops! :)

Velcro headbands

I saw these......somewhere, I forgot to bookmark but I remember the idea because it was so simple!

Just get some sticky back velcro and stick it on a headband and the flowers you want and voila! Cute and easy way to change ur style each day! I tried it on some thin fabric (or you could do ribbon) and it looks cute too.

Lion House eclairs!

For my birthday today, I'm going to share one of my most favorite recipes ever! :)

Eclairs have got to be one of my most favorite desserts! Especially these ones from the Lion House! They are to DIE for! It's a party in your mouth. :)
You ready for another keeper recipe?! This is a revised version by my mom, who made it even more delicious with her frosting!

These can be made into cream puffs or eclairs.

Shells:
1 cup flour--- 1 tsp salt (mix in bowl and set aside)
1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
1 cup water
4 eggs

Put butter and water in pan on stove top on medium heat. Bring to a boil. Add flour. Turn heat to low. Stir for 2 min. Take off heat. Let cool about 5 min. Add eggs ONE at a time. Mix well after each one. Cover cookie sheet with parchment paper. Force dough through decorating tube in small walnut size balls or 1"x3" form. Or spoon on. Bake shells for 25 min. at preheated oven of 400 degrees. DO NOT OPEN OVEN DOOR WHILE BAKING. Take out, cool, cut very top of each eclair off. Fill and replace top and ice with icing.

Filling:
1 large box instant vanilla pudding
4 oz. softened cream cheese
1 1/2 cup cold milk
8 oz. cool whip

Mix pudding with cold milk. Add soft cream cheese. Fold in cool whip. Let set in refrigerator.
Makes a lot and you will have some left over. Make 2 batches of shells if you want to use it all up!

Icing:
Mix sugar and cocoa first.
3 cups powdered sugar
4 T cocoa
Then add--
3 T melted butter
1 tsp vanilla
4 T milk

Depending on how much you pack on the icing, you'll have some left over of this too.

This is what the filling and icing look like. Look at the creamy puffy yumminess of that filling!
These are a good size, but I like mine a little bigger.... wanna get more filling in the middle
These are the outcasts. Flat and no puffiness whatsoever. These are fickle little things. My mom noticed that for some reason they don't turn out as well on cloudy days as they do on nice, sunny days.
Weird, eh.
Maybe that was my problem, my first batch it was cloudy and getting ready to rain, and they came out flat. The next batch I put in, the weather was sunny again (the shells are as fickle as our weather) and turned out with much puffiness!
Here we go, my kinda size. Who doesn't agree that bigger is better?! :)
SO delish and just melts in your mouth!
They're really easier than you think, just make sure to follow shell recipe exactly and don't double it! If you want to make more, do it separately. Go make some! You won't regret it. I don't regret one bit the 7 that I hoovered down today! :) :)

New Blogger feature!

Has anyone else noticed the new Design blogger feature? I think it just came out today, unless I totally missed it before. But it's pretty cool, you should check it out! They changed the Layout tab to Design.
If I didn't like making my own custom backgrounds, I'd definitely use these, they have a great selection!

Some mo' hats

Tis the time for people having babies it seems, but out of all of them I only know of one person who had a boy. I was excited to give away these cute boy hats that I had no clue what I was going to do with.

Can you tell I'm in love with the newsboy style hats? :) After I made the girl one of course I wanted to make a boy one!
When I saw these monkey sock hats, I thought they were so fetchin cute I just had to try them out! The girl one is a 2T-4T that is for Faith. I love the pom pom on the boy one, I may just have to put one on for Mikkie's. I just wish there was a pattern for my size! :)
Knowing Utah weather, we could probably use these hats any day when it decides to drop in temp. :)

Project Master bed and bath: completed....finally

Does it take anyone else forever long to put together a room?

We started our room last year and have just finished it....well, good enough anyways.
I got my beautiful quilt last year for Mother's day and our room painted. This year we got a much needed new bed and painted our bathroom. I'm not afraid of color, as you probably remember from my girls bathroom. :)
I was so antsy to get everything finished that I didn't take any 'before' pictures, but just picture....plain, boring, dull, absolutely no life at all......and compare that with this...

I've always loved these two colors together and have seen lots of people use it in their kitchens, but since I was already in love with my brown and turquoise there, I decided it would look awesome in our bedroom. I love it! It makes me even more happy knowing that Tim loves it too!
It worked out perfect to do our bathroom red and our room the creamy yellow because it woulda been a tad overwhelming if we did our room red.

I took a pic of our tp holder cuz I think everyone should own one just like it. hah why? cuz we had one of the regular old ones with the spring in it and it would get stuck and was too retarded to get back on, so our tp was hardly ever on the holder. This one you just slide it on and off....instant gratification, ooooh yea! :)

Thanks to Rod Works and Real Deals, I was able to find the perfect colors for decorations!
And Expressions Vinyl for good priced vinyl!
