Hangin' with my Peeps

I just went to the Wood Connection for the first time. Why I haven't made it there before now I don't know, but it is one of my new favorite places!
I got these cute little bunnies to do...Hangin' with my peeps...because they look like peeps marshmallow bunnies. Cute huh!
Faith was super excited to help paint and glitter one, doesn't the purple one look especially awesome?! :)

My last decoration before Easter.....which is in 5 days and I'm not ready!! Anyone else feel my pain? ;)

Oh and here is a pattern I traced of the bunny for you to use! Have fun!

Paint swatch Egg garland

I've seen a few of these floating around blogland and thought how clever is that!

If you don't have a bunch of these stocked up for one reason or another then, like me, go to the hardware store and pick out a bunch... I felt a little guilty taking them, but that's what they're there for, right? For crafting purposes. :)
Cut out an egg shape onto some paper and use that as your stencil to cut out the swatches.

Poke holes at top of eggs and string onto some rope, ribbon, etc and hang up for everyone to see!
Pretty cute, eh!
I think my pro painter Dad would be proud of me, right Daddo?!? ;)

Vinyl shirts

When I heard about this heat transfer vinyl, I was so excited to try it out! The fabric way is fun to do too, but this is a lot faster! So easy. Just put the vinyl on cricut mat, cut and iron on shirt! Check out their video for instructions. Can't wait to try out more with it, I got 5 colors, so have lots do with if anyone wants to do one too! :) Any one else tried this stuff?!?

Faith was so excited, I couldn't get a normal smile out of her ;)

Me likey. :)

Lucky charm shirt

I'm not all that big on St. Patty's, but I will wear green so people don't think they have reason to pinch me (although I'd just pinch them back no matter what I'm wearing haha). This holiday's usually so close to Easter that it's not worth decorating for, Easter's way better. I do love to have fun with the food however! (recipes coming up!)

When I saw this tutorial, I thought what a fun, different way to do a shirt! I had fun trying this out...and nearly passed out from all the bleach fumes. hah Best to do this in the garage/outside.

Now my little sweet pea can ward off all the pinchers out there in style! :)

If you want to use the pattern I made, download it over at My Pookie Designs!

Halloween advent calendar

My sister and I were browsing around Gardner's village one day and saw a cute advent calendar and thought it would make a fun project! Cute, yes. Fun....eh, maybe if I had a pattern of what to do. I had to figure out on my own how to do everything, making it look not so professional, but hey I tried my best, if I made another one, which I won't, it would def. look better than this one. But for wingin' it, I'd say it's not too shabby....just don't look too closely. :)
I wouldn't expect anyone but me to notice that this skeleton is MINE! :) Remember my skully I made for last year's Halloween digi kit? Yup, that's him! I've got to do a post alone on how to cut out fabric with your cricut! It's so much fun! Or maybe everyone already knows how to do it and I'm comin on board late.
So, because I was trying to figure out what I was doing as I went along, I did not take any pictures or write down how to do it, but if anyone is just itchin to make one, I can help my sister finish hers and use hers as the tutorial, now that I sorta know more what I'm doing. :)

Can't wait to fill these pockets up with yummy treats.....and just hope Faith doesn't find them and eat them all in one day! :)

Pumpkin Clip

I guess this is the start of all the Halloween/fall goodness; let the fun begin! :)
I was out shopping and saw a pillow that had a rolled fabric flower on it that looked like a pumpkin and I thought, "How cute would that be in Faith's hair!" She can look cute and festive at the same time. Fun, ya?! :)

Zipper Flower

I'm lovin the new zipper style lately, totally fun and creative! I went to buy a headband but when I saw the price and how easy it looked to make, I was just achin to try it myself! So instead I bought some zippers, came home and had this done in less than 10 min. That's my kinda craft! :)

Even though I just saw one of them and pretty much knew how to do it, I still wanted to look up a tute to see how others did it. I liked THIS one. Mine doesn't look as pro as hers but it works well enough for me!
It was harder than I thought to find the metal headbands. I found mine at Hobby Lobby but it had teeth on it, so I just ripped them off and then I liked it. :) If anyone knows of somewhere else to get them, let me know!!

Now to try some different styles and make one in every color, right?! :)

Wooden Flag

After our fun family bike ride by Gardner Village on Memorial Day,
we browsed around the shops and found a cute wooden flag decor. One SIL said, it's so cute I want to get it! The other SIL said no way, we can totally make that! lol Anyone else do that? See a craft and tell yourself, I can make that!
More times than not I don't actually make it, but this time we planned a craft day and got 'er done. They all turned out super cute, I love all the different combinations of papers!

The measurements of wood we used were:

2 pieces at 12" wide for bottom stripes
2 pieces at 7" wide for top stripes
1 2x4 block at 5" wide for blue star block

Just cut some 2x4's in half and you have a good height for stripes. I like the glitter on the stars, gives it a nice little bling!

I can't believe Independence Day is next weekend, but I'm glad I get to enjoy the decor for the whole month and not just until then!

Velcro headbands

I saw these......somewhere, I forgot to bookmark but I remember the idea because it was so simple!

Just get some sticky back velcro and stick it on a headband and the flowers you want and voila! Cute and easy way to change ur style each day! I tried it on some thin fabric (or you could do ribbon) and it looks cute too.

Rolled fabric flowers

Got into another fabric-flower-making-splurge. I found more tutorials I was just itchin' to try, and still even more that I'm tryin to find time to do! Check out this tutorial. Some other ones I made I just kinda messed around with and experimented. :) Sometimes that's the best way to get some fun, different styles....and sometimes, not so much. :)
I wanted to make small clippies to put in Mikkie's ponytails, so I just made mini rolled fabric flowers and attached them to some mini clips I found at JoAnn's. Too cute, I love them on her!
Both her and Faith made great little posers :)

Wooly to Ruffly pillow!

One of the things I love seeing (and doing) is turning ugly or old things into new and improved things. I see the pro ones out there where people totally transform beaten-up furniture into gorgeous masterpieces.....I'm not even close to doing that yet (probably would look like a toddler did it), but I'm starting small. Pillows I can do, and with each one I'm getting more practice to make the next one even better.

Well, I'm not sure this one is better than my last, but I do like it. This is the ugly wool pillow I got from DI for $2!!.......
..............and transformed it into this loverly vision of white. :) with 2 messy girls, let's see how long it STAYS white. haha
I didn't really find a tutorial on this one, and was not thinking at the time to make my own. I just saw a ruffled pillow like this at a store and guessed on how to do it. If enough people want a tute, then I'll go ahead and make one just for you. :)

Framed vinyl

Something else to take up some wall space. I can do shelves, but wall space......I never know how to arrange it! I did this for starters.....

got a cheap-o, ugly old gold frame from D.I. and painted/distressed it. The vinyl I cut with myself with my Cricut.
"A family that prays together, stays together". how true that is. :)

ahhhhh, me likey how it looks! I just gotta figure out what to fill my jar with now.hummmmmm...

Burlap canvas

This is my version of the fabric wall hangings I've been seeing a lot of. This is residing on the wall between our Living and Family rooms; adds a great touch, me thinks. =)
Just made a wood frame, pulled the burlap over (probably could've done it tighter) and stapled it down. The flowers were some of the hair clips I've been making (Post of those coming soon). I hot glued those on and then stitched some squiggly vines with brown thread. Not too shabby, eh.

Decorative balls

I've had a bunch of tutorials bookmarked for a long while that I wanted to get to someday, and that someday finally came! =) Now with the holidays over and out of the way I can focus on making some "regular home decor" for my house. I want to finish up my downstairs first since I've already started and since that's where people are the most.

These cute twine covered Styrofoam balls were on my to-craft list. I had some balls from Faith's party, so it worked out perfect to just use those and not have to buy anymore. The only prob with the bigger ones is they took about an hour! so....easy, but time consuming. I think I was using smaller twine than the tutorial where they used hemp cording. I wish I used that, but they still look good.
I found the perfect turquoise color at Walmart to spray paint some balls and others I used a brown I already had.
While I was clicking around, I came across a picture of rolled fabric decorative balls.
There were no instructions, just a picture. But it was easy enough to figure out. Just roll/twist fabric and hot glue it on the ball as you go along, same as the twine, just with rolled fabric. Such a cute match to go along with the twine balls. Love it!
Last but not least, um....more fabric balls (for lack of a better name). Same technique is used on these that I used on my Valentine Wreath, just used on a ball instead of a heart. LOVE these also!
I had to buy ZIP-ola for all these balls! well, I bought them at one point, but ya know...I've had them on hand for a while. =) These ones were made from old skirts, and the turquoise one from an old pillow case. I feel very resourceful. =)
More home decor on the way =)

Burlap bunnies

I thought all my energy was sucked out of me from the party, but when I saw this too cute, easy tutorial for these bunnies, I found my second wind. =) I went right into my craft room and made up 3 in an hour! I'm tellin ya.....EASY.

If it weren't for Tim's darn allergies, we'd have a REAL bunny rabbit.....buuuuuut, I guess I'm just going to have to make up lots of fabric, burlap, plastic, metal, wooden (aka FAKE) bunnies to compensate. =)

I think I like the thin ones over the chubbies, but aren't they just too cute for words?!?

Spring blox!

I'm going to jump right into Easter, I'm not really a fan of St. Patty's day. That and New Years are kinda weird holidays, in my opinion. =)

One of my BFF's came over last week to craft with me while our hubbies nerded out together playing video games. Good thing they both like it, that way they can entertain each other while we do our thang. She has next to NO decorations, so I insisted we start making some for her Spring collection. This is what we came up with.
We weren't so sure how the painted edges were going to turn out, but.....what do you think?!

Valentines blocks

I couldn't wait until I could use my jigsaw to make some wooden crafts, so I just did some more block letters! The 'sweetheart' and 'Valentines' blocks I kept for myself and the rest I made for people! It was too much fun. I'm loving the burlap look with painted letters! (can't ya tell? =)
Thanks to my awesome daddo who provides me with all his wood scraps from work! He had a huge box of little pieces that he said they were just going to throw away!! I was almost in shock (hehe) I'm glad I asked him.

Early Valentines gift!

I never thought I'd be so excited to get power tools, but when I think of all you can do with them, (all the crafts) I told Tim what I wanted and we decided to make it my early Valentines gift. We give early gifts a lot around here...we just can't hold our horses. =) So....here's my new play area...my own wood shop in my garage =) yayyyyyy! The table was off of ksl, jigsaw from HD and the sexy saw horse..... yup, we made it ourselves. =) I was so excited when i was finally able to use my lil "shop" and cut out some BIG "love" wooden letters. I needed something big to put on the ledge above my front door, and this was just the thing!
Once again, it's not pro by any means...this is the first time I've cut something with a jigsaw, but for a beginner, I'd say it's not too shabby, eh?!

Valentine table runner

I've been wanting to make my own table runner for a while now, and when I saw an idea at the fabric store, I decided now was the time to make one! Instead of a straight square border around it, I decided to make mine ruffled and I like it a whole lot! It's not pro, but I love it! You don't need a pattern for this, I totally winged it....I do that often. Mind you, it doesn't always turn out for me. =)

I love these prints and colors that I found at Material Girls!

Rag garland, Valentine style

If you can't tell, I'm totally stuck on this rag garland, it's just so fun to do one for every holiday!
Isn't it just fun to build up your decor stash with cute things you've made all by yourself that hardly cost anything?!
