Blue Lemon

I got a coupon for this restaurant so Tim and I decided to check it out tonight. We're glad we did, it was great! We loved the feel of the place, it had a modern, classy feel with a touch of casual. Just crisp and fresh. They are all about presentation too, we ogled at our plates of food thinking we had just spent about $25 a plate (when really it was half the price) they were that professional, they looked amazing! Then we sunk our teeth into it and it was even more amazing!
I got this dish below, the Artichoke and Tomato Chicken. Party.In.Your.Mouth.
Tim got the Southwestern Salad and loved it! They even grilled the lemon, making it look awesome. We had their sweet potato fries with their special sauce, tried several of their fun, unique drinks, and I had a cookies n' cream brownie....uhhhh, need I say more?! :)
Needless to say we give it two thumbs way, way up! And we recommend you try it! There's one in Highland or SLC.
After, we went to the store and we came back out to our van, we both got in, sat down and thought why the heck does our van smell like smoke.....and when did we get seat covers? We immediately realized we got in someone else's van, got out started laughing and found our own van. :) Funny stuff. Fun date.

Settebello's

We officially celebrated our anniversary yesterday...ALL day long, it was fun! We pretty much got all our Christmas Shopping done!! That's what makes me most excited...cuz I do NOT, absolutely NOT want to go shopping after Thanksgiving. The claustrophobic crowds drive me nuts.

Anyways, for dinner we went to Settebello's, a very authentic Italian restaurant downtown and I was SO not disappointed. I remember Tim making me a "Caprese" tomato/cheese salad when he proposed to me and I immediately fell in love with it. So I got one here also! We got our own pizza's (perfect sizes) and my oh my they were super duper tasty! I got the original"Settebello" pizza and he got the "Diavolo" which was Wayyyyy spicy. So glad I didn't get that. The crust was so thin, we had to roll it up like a pizza roll and eat it. Tim also introduced me to "Sparkling Water"...yea, not very exciting. It looks like Sprite...but tastes like water with a flavorless zing to it. It kinda grew on me and we ended up drinking the whole liter we got! I wouldn't be able to do that with soda pop. yuck.
Right next to it is their Gelato cafe....also YUMMY! I've never seen so many gelato flavors before. They had like 30 somethin'. I got Nutella (I say Nuh-tella; Tim says "new-tella"....who's right?!) with Sweet Cream and Tim got Nutella with Raspberry. I must say it felt sinful to eat the Sweet Cream....It. Was. That. Good.

Tim thinks I'm supposed to be an Italian...I agree, there has to be Some Italian blood in me!

Bottom line? You MUST go try this place! Another plus is the Great prices! If you've been there already, it's time to go again! hah I'M ready to go again already! Good thing I have some leftover pizza to eat............right now, SeE yA! =)

Emmet's & Ethel's

My mom and I just tried this place out today for the first time. It sound like a gram & gramps place to go (reminds me of Earl & Pearl from the "Pickles" comic- and they're older...just sayin'). It was higher quality than Wendy's and DEF. McDonald's. Emmet's was the burger n' fries joint, and Ethel's was the ice cream part of the store. I got a Bacon Ranch Chicken burger. I'm a sucker for all 3 of those....especially the chikin(yes, I realize it's supposed to be spelled chicken)...hence my blog name.. hehe ;) I tried a frozen mug of their "special" rootbeer... was good, but I've tasted many great homemade rootbeers. My mom got their turkey burger....which ya gotta admit, that's not usually an option at most places.....and a raspberry lemonade. We could taste the raspberry, but where did the lemonade go?? It was more like raspberry water. You know who had thee BEST raspberry lemonade? Pioneer Pies. Too bad they closed down long ago. Although I do have a pretty awesome recipe I found that I'll have to post on here soon!

Off the lemonade wagon now. All in all, it was a good place, I wouldn't mind going there again, but I wouldn't go out of my way just to go there.

Red Mango New Flava!

I posted about Red Mango before, but that was about my favorite, Pomegranate. This is also my fav! Pumpkin Spice fro yo!!! Don't dis it til you try it! I couldn't decide which one to get, so I asked for half of each! Wow...was that awesome! Topped with some crushed graham crackers, it was heaven. I'm hoping it's not just a seasonal thing. My luck, it probably is.....if so, hurry and go try it!!! =)

FunDay

It was fun to get out and have fun with our girls this weekend.

Liberty Land was a short but fun time. Faith had a blast on the airplane ride as you can tell. hah We couldn't help but laugh We felt bad for the poor girl. =)
We got on our favorite ride, bumper boats. It was Mikkie and I against Tim and Faith. Although our water war was being thwarted because of some kids we didn't even know who thought they were being funny ganged up on us and shot us mercilessly. I would have drenched them and then some but the rain did that for us.... after about 3 minutes it started pouring, so we had to get out. We were already wet, so what was a little more water.

Yesterday we spent the afternoon in Alpine. We originally wanted to move there, it's so beautiful, but very pricey. One of my favorite places there is the Peppermint Place. My mom used to take us a lot when we were kids. It was so much fun to go on a shuga rush with a whole bag of goodies and play at the park right after! Those were the days. I miss the old Peppermint Place though, they've moved and changed a bit- it used to be bigger and more stuff and you could go upstairs to watch them make taffy and create frosting shapes on the candy canes. They do have a perk with the new place though, serving gelatos! That's the whole reason we went there this time. Faith and I shared a mint chip with dark chocolate and Tim had Acai Mango with strawberry . It was delish! They have a bunch of flavorful candy canes like rootbeer float, pina colada, strawberry lemonade, etc. and taffy which Tim loves and peppermint bark which I luh-hove! Last time I went I got a prickly pear and hazelnut gelato...those 2 are by far my favorite and I was quite sad they didn't have it this time 'round. You've gotta try this place out if you haven't been; if you have been, it's time to go enjoy yourself again! =)
We went to a park just down the street after to indulge in our sweets. I have lots of memories there also. I'm sure glad the weather turned out nice so we could enjoy the nice day out! They have the coolest playground....the ground part. I know, weird, but it's little bits of red and blue rubber- smells like someone's burnin' the rubber. It's way cool to walk on though- bouncy! This was Mikkie's first time in a swing alone. She thought it was pretty shweet.

Yo this 'Gurt is goooood!

My sister introduced me to Red Mango for the first time last week and I'm hooked! I love fro yo and I love pomegranate anything, another great combo! What makes it even more tasty is putting grahams on top. I need to try Tangomonium next!

Foodtique

Yeeeeeeeehaw! If you're in the mood for some savory bbq, try out Charlie Boy's Pit BBQ

They make some mean pulled pork bbq on buns. I loooove a good barbeque sauce, that's more flavorful than spicy so you can enjoy your food. I thought it was cute they had mini pork sandwiches, they were a perfect size for Faith.
I love trying out these little Ma n Pop's restaurants, they are usually the ones that have the best food.

Catch ya'll lata!

Foodtique

That would be a food critique. My mom and I eat out a lot together and like to try new restaurants and I thought it would be fun to post our experiences and reviews.

First up, Aroma Fine Indian Cuisine. We heard it was a great place, you have your choice of a buffet or ordering from their menu. We tried the buffet. It wasn't nasty, but I was starving and had to force myself to eat it all. Bottom line, we wouldn't go there again.

If you want some really good Indian food, try out:

Bombay House (If you're like me and have a weak sauce tongue [a.k.a. NO spicy] try the Chicken Makhani- the best!)
[Side note, If you happen to feel like cracking any jokes, go to the Provo location....the other are a buncha grumpy pants and apparently have no sense of humor ;)]
and
India Fusion (Try the Ticca Masala with chicken [once again, not spicy!] )
Very good service and very friendly! Just make sure to express your delight by using the word 'bliss'. ;) refer to THIS post.
